As the days grow longer and the sunshine starts to stick around, we’re reflecting on an amazing start to our year, full of meaningful moments and connection in our community.
We’ve had many wonderful things happening at Peace of Mind, and we’re excited to share a few of the highlights with you!
3rd Annual Hot Cocoa Contest: A Warm Tradition
Our 3rd annual Hot Cocoa Contest was a hit once again! We had so much fun connecting with local organizations and community members over some seriously delicious cocoa. Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared a cup, and helped make the day cozy, spirited, and memorable!
People’s choice went to Albany Advisory Council on Trafficking (AACT) with their deliciously creamy pumpkin hot cocoa named, “Cowboy Comfort.” Judge’s choice went to Albany County Central VFD’s, “Scotch-amel Delight,” a delightful butterscotch and caramel hot cocoa creation.

New Accessible Vehicle: On the Move!
We’re thrilled to announce the addition of an accessible vehicle to our fleet, thanks to funds raised at our 3rd Annual Hot Cocoa Contest! Our new (to us) van is equipped with a Turny chair, which swivels out and down, making getting into the vehicle easier for those with physical ability differences.
This is a huge step forward in making sure all of our participants have the opportunity to experience the community in ways that are meaningful for them. Whether it’s attending events, exploring new places, or reaching personal goals, this will help open the door to even more opportunities!
Mugs & Movie Passes Giveaway
To keep the cozy vibes going, we hosted an online Mugs & Movie Passes giveaway! Two lucky winners were chosen at random from our Facebook followers, and each winner took home a set of Peace of Mind branded mugs filled with hot chocolate, treats, and movie passes.
Thank you to 4imprint for the generous $500 grant which enabled us to order enough branded merch to share with our amazing community!
Deerwood Ranch Staff Retreat: Time to Recharge & Connect
Our dedicated staff had the chance to slow down and recharge during a beautiful retreat in Centennial at the Deerwood Ranch. It was a time to reconnect, share a delicious meal, reflect, and celebrate the amazing work we make happen every day. We also got to see a giant herd of wild horses up close! We came away feeling refreshed, inspired, and even more united in our mission.
Participant Success: Goals in Action
One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is watching our participants work toward and achieve their goals. The progress we’ve seen over the past few months has been inspiring as participants have engaged in college classes, healthy meal planning and prepping, staying active, and more. We’re so proud of everyone’s hard work and perseverance!
With summer around the corner, we’re looking forward to all the sunshine, outdoor adventures, and meaningful ways we’ll continue supporting and advocating for our participants.
