We’re only two months into 2026, and it feels like we’ve crammed a whole year of excitement and accomplishments into just the last few months!

A little housekeeping update:
We now have about 40 team members, and 50 participants!
Courtney McMahan was promoted to Director of Operations & there’s a new member of Leadership: Administrative Assistant Paige Roszel. 🥳
In 2025, our team completed 9,130 total visits with our amazing participants. With an average visit length of four hours, that would mean nearly 40,000 hours of services provided in just one year. 🤯
We’ve also ramped up our fundraising efforts; as a nonprofit this has made all of the difference for expansion of services, launching community initiatives, and taking care of our staff and participants! 💜
POM hosted the Whoville Hot Cocoa Hut TWICE during the 2025-26 Winter Lights Festival put on by Tough Guys. We baked homemade bread, cookies, and other treats for bake sales each night, too! In total, we raised $1,186.93 for Peace of Mind. 🎉 Huge shout out and ginormous thank you to Mikey Welper at Mountain Valley Properties for boosting our donations at the hot cocoa hut this season! Thank you, thank you, thank you to the Laramie community for coming out to support us: we already can’t wait until next time! ☕❄️
Speaking of hot cocoa… POM’s Fourth Annual Hot Cocoa Contest was January 31st, and this was our best year yet! Congratulations to Judge’s Choice 2026: Laramie Mutual Aid’s “Lococoa,” a lovely, classic vanilla and chocolate flavored hot cocoa. Well done to People’s Choice 2026: “Haven’s Irish Shamrock,” a beautifully crafted Bailey’s Irish Cream-inspired hot cocoa. ☘️ By the end of the day, we raised a total of $2,980.65! Thank you to our contestants, guests, judges, event sponsors, donors, and POM team! At several points during the event, we were so crowded with guests that we had lines of guests waiting to taste and vote! Next year, we’ll have a much bigger venue. Save the Date: POM’s 5th Annual Hot Cocoa Contest will be January 30th, 2027! ☕
POM’s newest community initiative was officially launched the day of our 4th Annual Hot Cocoa Contest: My Portable Peace of Mind DME (Durable Medical Equipment) Lending Closet! We here at POM understand from experience how difficult it can be to find local and affordable durable medical equipment. That’s why we’ve been building an inventory of gently used equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, nebulizers, shower chairs, accessibility ramps, and much more; culminating in the launch of POM’s very own DME lending closet. Equipment check outs are low or no cost, depending on the length of time borrowed! Everyone: go follow our new Facebook page, and check out our inventory list found on our new web page! If you or anyone you know has gently used DME to donate, contact us! 🦽
Finally, starting March 1st, 2026, POM will officially have an office space at the Laramie Civic Center Room 166. If you or anyone you know would like to donate time, skills, materials, or office supplies; we’ll be hard at work renovating, decorating, and fine-tuning our new office space over the next few months. WOOHOO!!! 🎉🥳💜
